Margarita Lypiridou is a visual artist based in Montreal. Suspended between the figurative and the abstract, Lypiridou’s  images attempt to accentuate the ephemerality and volatility of being. Entities and places become excuses for capturing a moment of stillness in the continuous flow of existence, where the present is revealed as a multi-layered structure of memory as well as intention and imagination.

Lypiridou studied painting, drawing, applied arts and multimedia in Greece. She then continued her studies in graphic design and photography in England. Later in 2002, she moved to Canada where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Print Media and a Master’s degree of Fine Arts in Studio Art at Concordia University in Montreal.

Lypiridou had her first solo exhibition in 1995, and since then her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions and is part of collections across Europe and North America.
